i loved yesterday morning's "talk" from brent in the early service. i think i was getting to be a slackard in my prayers for and actions to reach orting for Jesus. i love thinking about the early church in Acts. i think it was exciting. i pray that RCC will be like that. we need some excitement! we are serving a living and amazing God! so maybe the newness of being a church plant has worn off a bit, but the thrill of joining in with God as He works in orting should never "wear off".
Lord, help me to willingly spread the epidemic of being a contagious christian and to "infect" orting and beyond for YOU one life at a time.
WOW!

no deep thoughts today :-), just ramblin'
it's almost time...time to hit the books, read the syllabi/syllabuses (sp?), write the papers, communicate with profs & new colleagues, read, read, read, take tests, watch the lectures, etc. ...wow!
it's almost time to be a student, again. me? a student? a bit overwhelming to think about but Lord willing, it's gonna happen!
The BIG day is actually monday, oct. 23 -- that's my first official day of class. i'll be earning a masters degree in education counseling. MEdCounseling --sounds cool huh? i'll sorta be "attending" Liberty U in VA. i'll check in each day (through Liberty Blackboard on-line.) i'll have assignments, quizzes, tests, grades, an advisor & all that good stuff.
God is good! He's allowing me to do something i've dreamed of...i love kids (double duh, huh?) & i love to help the ones who need extra encouragement, extra guidance, extra prodding to stay the right course and i think as a counselor i'll have opportunity to just that & i can teach group lessons on character & teamwork, etc.
i'm jumping ahead of myself a little, but i think that i'll like being a counselor when i grow up! :-)

i'll obey because i trust Him
in recent reading of the blogs, i was touched by tanya's & sally's honesty & vulnerablity. i don't deal with fear too much but i do struggle with other stuff. like selfishness.
saturday night about 7:45 pm i was at the copy place making copies for my ChasePlace lesson. my class theme was "I'll Obey God Because I Trust Him" ; as i'm copying the stuff God & me had this conversation. He allowed this thought to cross my mind (aka God spoke to my heart...) "Get Mel a starbucks on the way home"; my first response was "Lord, can i do it some other time? i still have stuff to do. i'm getting tired & hungry. i'll get her one some other time." He said, "OK, you can choose to say NO. but how 'bout that lesson that you'll be teaching tomorrow?" so i say "Oh that? big gulp, i'm sorry Lord, i want to trust YOU, so i will obey You!" Then i finished up the copies & was thankful for that teachable moment from my Father. i needed my selfishness pointed out & i needed to practice what i was about to "preach"... but the story doesn't end there.
As i drove up to the Starbucks window to pick up the drink, the guy working asked me if i wanted a bacon sandwich. i love bacon (sorry if that makes you healthy food types gag) especially crispy, cruchy bacon! so i thought about it a second, & then he added "it's FREE". so of course i accepted this yummy bacon sandwich from this guy who had no idea that my heavenly Father had fixed that sandwich for me & that i almost let my selfishness make me miss out on it. yea GOD. boo selfishness! yea forgiveness! i love Him so!
